About Helen
Helen Chen is a mediator specializing in workplace conflicts. Helen has volunteered as a mediator for The Congress of Neutrals and SEEDS Community Resolution Center, where she mediated disputes in civil harassment and small claims courts involving landlord-tenant, civil harassment, personal injury, and other matters. She received her mediation training through Stanford Law School, the Center for Understanding in Conflict, and the Northern California Mediation Center, and participates in on-going professional development as a mediator.
Helen has over twenty years of experience promoting healthy and just workplaces, and has extensive experience working in nonprofit and academic settings. Committed to social justice, she has dedicated her legal career to understanding and making workplaces better across a variety of sectors, including nail salons, school districts, janitorial, health care, and restaurants.
At the U.C. Berkeley Labor Occupational Health Program, Helen wore various hats as educator, facilitator, policy analyst, and researcher, all while working at the intersection of work, community, and health. Helen served as staff attorney at the Asian Law Caucus representing employees in workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, and retaliation matters, and engaging in legislative and administrative advocacy. Helen has served on two nonprofit boards, Human Impact Partners and the Asian Pacific Environmental Network. She is located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
